Tolfaccia

Tolfaccia is a mountain summit in the Tolfetano-Cerite-Manziate region reaching 582 meters in elevation with a prominence of 148 meters. The peak displays volcanic structures with exposed rock formations shaped by natural weathering over time.

The mountain area holds archaeological remains of two settlements from the Final Bronze Age period and burial sites from the Bronze and Iron Ages. These discoveries indicate the region has been inhabited since ancient times.

The mountain summit represents part of the geological heritage of Lazio, with its volcanic structure revealing the historical formation of the regional landscape.

Well-marked trails lead to the summit and provide access for hikers of various experience levels. Nearby Monte Urbano, located about 4 kilometers northwest, offers opportunities for extended exploration in the surrounding area.

The volcanic dome spans roughly 600 meters in diameter with exposed lava deposits that reveal the region's volcanic past. These visible rock formations tell the story of the mountain's creation through natural forces.
