Villa Lazzaroni

Villa Lazzaroni is an urban park in the Appio-Latino district divided into two sections, one serving administrative functions and the other managed by religious sisters. The grounds feature mature trees, walking paths, and sports facilities arranged across the landscape.

The park was created in the late 1800s on the grounds of former vineyards and incorporated an existing farmhouse into its main structure. This transformation shaped the character of the area.

The site is maintained by the Franciscan Sisters Missionaries of Mary, who care for the grounds as a community gathering place for residents. Local families use the open spaces regularly for walks and quiet time among the trees.

The park is open from dawn to dusk each day and can be accessed through gates on Via Appia Nuova and Via Tommaso Fortifiocca depending on where you arrive from. It is best to check which entrance is closer when you visit.

The grounds are planted with eucalyptus, pines, cedars, and palms that have been part of the landscape since its foundation. This botanical mix creates an unusual setting in the middle of the urban neighborhood.
