Villa Schifanoia, Renaissance villa in Fiesole, Italy

Villa Schifanoia stands atop a hill with multiple terraces, featuring formal gardens, geometric flower beds, and decorative fountains along stone stairways.

The central structure originated in the 15th century, belonging to the Cresci family until 1550 when Bartolomeo di Bate di Zaccheria acquired the property.

The European University Institute transformed the villa into an academic center, now housing the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies.

Located at Via Giovanni Boccaccio 121 in Fiesole, the villa maintains its educational function as part of the European University Institute campus.

The villa's name translates to 'avoiding boredom' and includes a noble chapel built in 1847, dedicated to Saint Thomas adjacent to the main building.
