Among its buildings are Casa Sola at number 25 and Palazzo Garzanti at number 30.

The street's name derives from the historic 'contrada della Spiga,' one of six ancient neighborhoods that composed central Milan, with some scholars linking it to the Spighi family or an ear-shaped tavern sign from earlier centuries.

This pedestrian street serves as a focal point for Milan's fashion identity, attracting celebrities, designers, and industry insiders during major events like Milan Fashion Week, reinforcing the city's status as a global fashion capital.
