San Pietro Celestino church

San Pietro Celestino is a baroque church in central Milan featuring a curved facade decorated with Corinthian pilasters and classical columns framing its main entrance. The interior contains five chapels positioned along each side of the nave, with architectural details reflecting baroque design principles throughout the space.

The church underwent a major transformation in 1735 when a rococo sandstone facade was added, significantly changing its exterior appearance. Later renovations in 1904 addressed deterioration and helped preserve the structure for future generations.

The church now serves the Coptic Christian community from Egypt, bringing together worshippers from different cultural backgrounds within a historic Italian monument. This role reflects how religious spaces evolve to embrace changing neighborhoods and populations.
