The Borsa merci di Trieste is a commodities exchange institution founded on 20 June 1755, not a visitable trading hall; it operates today as a platform for trading goods and energy certificates. It is one of the oldest commodity exchanges in the world, run since 1853 within the Trieste Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Empress Maria Theresa established the exchange in 1755 as part of her economic reforms for the Austrian port city. It became a driving force in regional trading activity and shaped the city's economic growth for generations.

The exchange's governing body, the Deputazione di Borsa, had six members elected by the merchant class and confirmed by the government; it sent the city's merchants' proposals and complaints to Vienna. Since 1875 its amicable settlement of commercial disputes has continued as the Arbitration Board.

The exchange operates as an institution rather than a visitable monument: its activity is the trading platform for energy products with green or white certificates and the Excellence Exchange B2X model for local production. The Deputation of the Stock, the six-member body governing the exchange, designed, financed and built a series of marine lamps along the Adriatic from 1815. The same body founded the Monte Civico Commerciale in 1842, later the Savings Bank of Trieste.
