Casa Stratti is a neoclassical palace in Piazza Unità d'Italia with five stories and an ornately decorated main facade. The structure features fluted pilasters with Ionic capitals and floral decorative elements throughout.
Merchant Nicolò Stratti commissioned the palace in 1839 but sold it to Assicurazioni Generali in 1846 due to financial hardship. The insurance company has owned and maintained the building ever since.
The central sculptural group by Luigi Zandomeneghi shows a female figure representing Trieste alongside figures for Fortune and Progress. A model of a 19th-century locomotive is also part of this composition.
The ground floor houses the historic Caffè degli Specchi, while upper levels contain offices. The building is easily visible from the square and accessible for viewing its exterior.
Multiple architects including Buttazzoni, Seu, Geiringer, and Righetti worked on successive phases of the building's development. Each modification transformed the palace's appearance to reflect the city's evolving character.
