Spiaggia di Punta Penna

Punta Penna is a natural beach on the Abruzzese coast with wide golden sand and dunes covered in rare plants. It stretches from the port of Vasto to the Punta Aderci Reserve and maintains its undeveloped landscape.

The Punta Penna lighthouse was built in 1906 and at about 70 meters tall ranks as Italy's second tallest lighthouse. It was constructed to safely guide ships through this strategic coastal route.

The chapel of Santa Maria della Penna overlooks the cape and draws visitors interested in exploring the local connection between the sea and faith. In May, traditional celebrations occur here as local people honor the Madonna statue through maritime processions.

The beach remains uncommercial and preserves its natural character without beach bars or rental stands. Wooden stairs provide convenient access and basic facilities like restrooms are available for visitors.

The shallow and clear waters allow visitors to spot dolphins and sea turtles that inhabit this coastal area. The beach is also home to rare bird species such as kentish plovers and yellow-legged gulls that nest and feed here.
