Chiesa della Santissima Trinità, Romanesque church in Potenza, Italy.
The Chiesa della Santissima Trinità is a Romanesque church in Potenza featuring a single nave with side chapels and a semicircular apse. Inside, visitors find a coffered ceiling and the building sits on Via Pretoria.
The church has been documented since 1178, though an earthquake in 1857 destroyed it completely and it was entirely rebuilt in 1872. This 19th-century reconstruction shaped the structure seen today.
The interior walls display frescoes painted by Mario Prayer during the 1930s, including depictions of biblical scenes throughout the church space.
The building is currently closed to the public and does not hold services. Check with local sources before planning a visit, as this situation may change in the future.
During renovation work in 2010, investigators found remains at the site that led to solving a missing person case from 1993. This discovery brought closure to a decades-old mystery.
