The Palazzo della Provincia exhibits a symmetrical facade with rusticated stones, giant pilasters, and Corinthian capitals framing the second-floor windows and balconies.
The building suffered extensive damage during the 1857 earthquake, leading to immediate reconstruction efforts that continued through winter to restore the structure.
The palace contains a collection of artworks, including portraits by Andrea Petroni and pieces from southern Italian artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The palace houses administrative offices of the Province of Basilicata and maintains a central location in Piazza Mario Pagano of Potenza.
The clock on the facade stopped at 19:35 during the 1980 earthquake, marking a significant moment in the history of this institutional building.
