Palazzo Reale

Palazzo Reale is an eclectically designed palace in central Potenza, situated between Via del Popolo and Corso XVIII Agosto, with a trapezoidal footprint and notably narrow profile. Each facade displays different architectural styles, featuring bay windows and varied decorative elements that create a visually complex composition.

Construction of the palace started in the early 1900s under architect Giuseppe Pisanti, commissioned by politician Ascanio Branca. The building was completed in 1927, representing architectural developments of early twentieth-century Italy.

The palace displays Liberty style features from different Italian regions, blending classical elements with regional influences from Naples and Turin. The decorative details and symbolic patterns in its facades reflect the artistic movements that shaped the early 1900s.

The palace is centrally located and visible from the street, with its varied facades offering different perspectives from different angles. Plan time to observe the details on each side of the building to fully appreciate the different architectural features.

The building stands out for its extremely narrow profile, comparable to Turin's Casa Scaccabarozzi or New York's Flatiron Building. This remarkable slenderness makes it a visual curiosity worth noticing as you walk past.
