Palazzo Malvezzi Campeggi, Bologna

Palazzo Malvezzi Campeggi is a Renaissance palace in central Bologna with an ornate facade and interior courtyard. The building showcases three stacked rows of columns and now serves as home to the University of Bologna's Law Faculty.

Construction began in 1550 on the site of an earlier building, replacing a structure that once belonged to the Bentivoglio family. The Malvezzi family then shaped the palace over the following generations with their artistic and architectural choices.

The courtyard displays artworks that reflect the tastes and connections of Bologna's noble families in the 1700s. Visitors can observe how two family names were combined through symbols and paintings on the walls.

The palace stands on Via Zamboni 22 next to the Basilica of San Giacomo Maggiore in an easy-to-reach location. Since it now serves as an active university building, visiting may be restricted to certain hours or public areas only.

The stucco ornaments feature intertwined heraldic symbols of two families that united through marriage in the early 1700s. These crafted details add a layer of personal family history embedded within the palace's architectural design.
