Santa Maria della Vittoria, Medieval church building in Gubbio, Italy
The stone church features clean architectural lines with a simple facade and houses religious frescoes depicting biblical stories and saints inside its walls.
Built in 853 during Bishop Erfo's episcopate, the church commemorates a victory over Saracens and became the first Franciscan settlement in 1213.
The church maintains regular religious services and functions as a central point for local celebrations, connecting the community through traditional ceremonies.
Visitors can access the church through a restored sandstone portal and explore the surrounding park filled with olive trees and native plants.
A bronze monument stands in front of the church depicting the legendary meeting between Saint Francis and the wolf of Gubbio from 1220.
