Kirchbachspitze, Mountain summit in the Texel Group, South Tyrol, Italy

Kirchbachspitze, also called Croda del Clivio, is a 3,053-metre summit in the Texel Group of the Ötztal Alps, in South Tyrol's Texelgruppe Nature Park. Its south flank drops over the Naturnser Sonnenberg, but the top itself rises only about 500 metres from the higher Gfallwand (3,175 m) to the north and the Lahnbachspitze (3,081 m) to the east, linked by ridges. A southwest ridge runs down to the Kirchbachkreuz (2,950 m), often confused with the summit in maps.

The mountain marks the boundary where three municipalities meet - Naturns, Schnals, and Partschins - reflecting centuries of Alpine settlement patterns. This border location made it a natural landmark separating different valleys.

The summit draws experienced mountaineers who maintain climbing traditions shared across valley communities. Knowledge of routes and techniques passes through generations, creating a living network of local expertise.

The main route begins in Naturno and takes roughly five and a half hours with about 1,500 meters of elevation gain. You need sure footing and good fitness due to the steep rocky terrain throughout the climb.

From the top you can see across multiple mountain ranges including the Ortler group, Similaun, and Weisskugel. On clear days the distant Dolomites appear as a faint outline along the horizon.
