Church of Saint Mary in Platea, Medieval church in Campli, Italy

The Church of Saint Mary in Platea occupies Piazza Farnese and features a neoclassical facade paired with a distinctive bell tower. The tower transitions from a square base to an octagonal upper section, creating the building's recognizable form.

The structure was built in the late 14th century with a single-nave plan. Between the 15th and 16th centuries, it was transformed into a three-nave basilica.

The wooden ceiling displays paintings created by the Roman School and enriches the interior with artistic detail. Walking through the side aisles, you can find a painted cross from the 14th century and a Madonna with Child created in 1577.

The church welcomes visitors during regular hours and serves the local Catholic community with scheduled services. Planning your visit outside of service times allows for a more peaceful experience to view the artworks and interior spaces.

The bell tower may contain ceramic tiles decorated by Antonio da Lodi in 1474. These decorative elements represent a significant moment in the tower's artistic embellishment.
