The Chiesa del Purgatorio emerged between 1725 and 1747 through funding from the Confraternity of Purgatory and design by Giuseppe Fatone of Andria.
The wooden entrance door contains 36 carved squares displaying skulls of nobles and common people, reflecting Catholic beliefs about death and redemption.
Located near the Sassi district, this religious building offers free entry to visitors who want to examine its architectural elements and decorative features.
The church houses a Leonardo Carelli pipe organ from 1755 with nine registers and 45 main pipes arranged in three decorated cusps with painted stars.
