Baita Segantini, Mountain hut in Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, Italy.
Baita Segantini is a mountain hut located at 2200 meters in the Dolomites, with sweeping views of the Pale di San Martino peaks and a reflective pond in its front area. It serves as a junction for several hiking trails that pass through the Paneveggio Natural Park.
Alfredo Paluselli built this mountain shelter in 1936 using materials from an old hut located in Bellamonte. He lived there alone for approximately 35 years, leaving his mark on the place through decades of solitary mountain life.
The structure serves as a central point for hikers exploring the Dolomites, connecting multiple trails through the Paneveggio Natural Park mountain system.
The hut is reached via a hiking trail of about 40 minutes from the Passo Rolle parking area, which passes through Capanna Cervino at 2084 meters. The route is well-marked with rest points and clear directional signs along the way.
The dirt road leading to the hut is restricted to pedestrian traffic during daylight hours, but opens to vehicle access after 7 PM. This arrangement protects the hiking experience and preserves the mountain environment during peak visitor times.
