The Villa dei Volusii contains multiple rooms across two levels supported by a cryptoporticus, featuring residential quarters and agricultural facilities.
The villa was constructed around 50 BCE by the Volusii Saturnini family, who maintained close connections with Emperor Augustus during the Roman Republic.
The excavated sections reveal polychrome mosaics, a hexastyle atrium, and a viridarium with ashlar columns that demonstrate Roman architectural techniques.
Visitors can access the site from the Feronia Ovest Service Area on the A1 motorway between Tuesday and Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00.
The discovery occurred during the 1961 construction of the Rome-Florence highway, leading to extensive archaeological excavations that continued until 1971.
