La Morra is one of the oldest settlements in the Langhe, established as a hilltop defensive post during the medieval period. The Piazza Castello, where the terrace stands, takes its name from a fortress that no longer exists.
The terrace is easy to find from Piazza Castello and is freely accessible to everyone. For the clearest views toward the Alps, early morning visits on clear days tend to work best.
The terrace is locally known as a spot where people come to propose, which is why it carries a second tag as a proposal site alongside its role as an observation deck. There is no sign marking this, but locals are well aware of it.
