Tell Abu al-Kharaz, Archaeological site in Gilead, Jordan.
Tell Abu al-Kharaz spans 12 hectares in the central Jordan Valley, offering views across both the Jordan and Jezreel Valleys from its elevated position.
The settlement dates back to 3200 BCE and remained active until its destruction by the Neo-Assyrian empire in the late 8th century BCE.
A two-story compound from 1100 BCE contains 21 rooms with artifacts indicating trade connections to Phoenicia, the Aegean, and Cyprus regions.
The archaeological site lies 4 kilometers east of the Jordan River and 35 kilometers from the Sea of Galilee, accessible through the Irbid Governorate.
Excavations revealed specialized Chocolate-on-white pottery produced locally, distinct from the Cypriot versions exported to other regions during the Middle Bronze Age.
