Hioki

Hioki is a city in the central part of Kagoshima Prefecture, positioned facing the East China Sea on the southwestern side of Satsuma Peninsula. The area encompasses several districts that developed from former towns and offer different features and landscapes.

The city took its present form in 2005 when neighboring towns merged into a single administration. This consolidation created a larger urban center in the prefecture.

Local neighborhoods celebrate Japanese traditions through street markets, seasonal festivals, and community gatherings that bring residents together. These events shape the rhythm of daily life in the districts.
