Sakuragawa Station, Railway station in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan.
Sakuragawa Station is an underground railway station in Naniwa-ku that serves two lines: the Osaka Metro Sennichimae Line and the Hanshin Railway Hanshin Namba Line. Two parallel tracks share an island platform that allows passengers to transfer smoothly between the two services.
The station opened in April 1969 as an underground facility serving the Sennichimae Line. In March 2009, it expanded to accommodate the Hanshin Namba Line.
The station name reflects the Japanese appreciation for cherry blossoms, incorporating sakura in its designation within the Naniwa district of Osaka.
The station is underground, so use the stairs or elevators to reach the platforms from street level. Signs at each entrance clearly mark which line departs from each platform area.
The station has returning tracks for Kintetsu trains on its western side, allowing train crews to operate between the Kintetsu and Hanshin rail networks. This facility is not open to regular passengers but demonstrates the complexity of coordinating train operations across different companies.
