Katsuragi

Katsuragi extends across 33.73 square kilometers of diverse terrain, from the Kongo mountain ranges in the west to commercial zones along National Route 24 in the east.

The establishment of modern Katsuragi occurred on October 1, 2004, when the towns of Shinjo and Taima merged into a single administrative entity within Kitakatsuragi District.

The Sumo-kan Kehaya-za museum documents the city's connection to traditional sumo wrestling through exhibits and demonstrations of this ancient Japanese sport.

Visitors can access Katsuragi via the Kintetsu Railway Gose Line, Minami Osaka Line, and West Japan Railway Company Wakayama Line, with multiple stations serving the area.

The Katsuragi Hitokotonushi Shrine features a 1,200-year-old ginkgo tree and maintains a tradition where visitors express single-word wishes to the shrine deity.
