Shin-yama Kofun

The Shin-yama Kofun extends 66 meters in length, featuring two rectangular sections with the posterior portion measuring 33 meters square and six meters in height.

Dating from the mid-3rd to early 4th century AD, this burial mound contains a chamber constructed with stacked river stones measuring 5.5 meters long.

Excavations at the site revealed numerous artifacts including a Chinese bronze mirror, iron swords, glass balls, magatama beads, and pottery fragments.

Located at an elevation of 650 meters on the northern end of Shin-yama hill, the site provides clear views toward the Hida Mountains.

The burial chamber differs from standard construction methods by using stacked river stones instead of cut stone blocks for its internal structure.
