Hitachiota, Regional administrative center in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

The city extends across 371.99 square kilometers of northeastern Ibaraki Prefecture, with the Asakawa, Yamada, and Sato rivers flowing through its territory.

The municipality evolved from the town of Ōta, established in 1889, and received city status in 1954, later expanding through the absorption of Kanasagō, Satomi, and Suifu.

The Seizan-so temple, recognized as a National Historic Monument, stands as one of the principal religious structures within the municipal boundaries.

The JR East Suigun Line connects the city to major transportation networks, while multiple national routes facilitate road access throughout the region.

With 48,074 residents spread across 19,327 households, Hitachiōta maintains the largest territorial extension among all municipalities in Ibaraki Prefecture.
