Midori, City center in eastern Gunma Prefecture, Japan

Mountains and forests cover 80 percent of the territory, with the Watarase River flowing through from northeast to southeast across the urban area.

The city of Midori came into existence on March 27, 2006, through the consolidation of Omama town, Kasakake town, and Azuma village into one administrative unit.

The name Kasakake area originates from traditional mounted archery practices, reflecting the deep connection between local heritage and historical Japanese martial arts.

Four major railway lines serve the municipality, while the Ota-Yabuzuka Interchange on the Kita-Kanto Expressway provides direct access to the southern district.

The temperature variations between northern and southern parts of Midori result in cherry blossoms blooming with a two to three week difference within the same city.
