Susaki

Susaki is a coastal city in Kōchi Prefecture that stretches between the sea and surrounding mountains across several square kilometers. Two natural bays shape its waterfront, with inlets and peninsulas creating a complex shoreline.

The area was once part of Tosa Province under the control of the Yamauchi clan before becoming an independent city in 1954. This change marked a shift in how the place developed and governed itself.

The city celebrates its connection to local freshwater otters through an unusual mascot character that has become known to visitors. This figure wears a noodle pot as a hat, blending local wildlife with a playful nod to the region's food traditions.
