Ogawamachi Station, Railway interchange station in Ogawa, Japan
Ogawamachi Station is a railway interchange in Ogawa that connects two rail operators with separate platforms and ticket areas. The Tobu side has four tracks while the JR East side operates with two tracks, allowing trains from both companies to serve the same station.
The Tobu Railway section opened in 1923, with the JR East platform added a decade later in 1934. This two-phase development created the interchange station that serves the area today.
The station serves as a central transportation hub where the Hachiko Line intersects with the Tobu Tojo Line, connecting local communities throughout the region.
The station has separate ticket offices for each operator, so passengers should enter the correct section based on their intended route. Multiple train categories serve this stop, making it helpful to check the displays before heading to the platforms.
Two storage tracks sit between the Tobu and JR sections, used for train maintenance and parking when not in active service. This arrangement allows the station to coordinate operations smoothly despite being operated by two separate companies.
