Miyazu

Miyazu is a coastal city in Kyoto Prefecture located at the base of Tango Peninsula. It extends along Wakasa Bay with areas of forest, agricultural land, and waterfront zones that shape the local landscape.

Miyazu served as the provincial capital of Tango during the Nara period when the region held significant administrative importance. The settlement later emerged as a trading hub when maritime commerce expanded centuries afterward.

The Motoise Kono Shrine maintains connections with Amaterasu-Omikami deity through its architectural elements and religious ceremonies throughout the year.

The city is accessible by the Kyoto Tango Railway and national roads, with a functioning seaport that handles maritime traffic. Travelers can navigate through various transport options depending on their arrival point.

The Amanohashidate sandbar extends across Miyazu Bay and supports thousands of pine trees along its length. This natural formation has persisted for centuries and remains one of the region's most distinctive geographical features.
