Tsuruga, Coastal city in Fukui Prefecture, Japan

Tsuruga stretches across 251 square kilometers along Wakasa Bay, featuring both urban developments and natural landscapes between mountains and the Sea of Japan.

The city transformed from an ancient district of Echizen Province to receive official city status in 1937 following the annexation of Matsubara village.

The annual Kehi festival at Kehi Shrine maintains local traditions while bronze statues of anime characters decorate the downtown streets.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen connects through Tsuruga Station, providing direct high-speed rail access to major Japanese metropolitan centers since March 2024.

The Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum documents the city's maritime heritage and its role as an international trading port since 1899.
