Hiroshima Peace Memorial, UNESCO World Heritage memorial in Hiroshima, Japan.
The skeletal remains of the former Hiroshima Prefectural Commercial Exhibition Hall stand as a preserved structure with exposed metal framework and damaged stone walls.
The building survived the atomic bomb explosion on August 6, 1945, when it was located 150 meters from the hypocenter of the nuclear detonation.
During the annual Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 6th, thousands gather at the site to participate in commemorative events and moments of silence.
The memorial welcomes visitors throughout the year and can be reached via Hiroshima Electric Railway streetcar services from JR Hiroshima Station to Genbaku Dome-Mae stop.
The structure remains deliberately unrestored, maintaining the exact state of destruction from 1945 as a physical testament to nuclear warfare effects.
