Kita-ku

The northern administrative division of Tokyo stretches along four rivers: Arakawa, Shakujii, Shingashi, and Sumida, covering an area of 20.61 square kilometers.

Established in 1947, Kita-ku emerged from the merger of Oji and Takinogawa Wards, following the transformation of rural villages after Oji Station opened in 1883.

The Kyu-Furukawa Gardens, recognized as a National Place of Scenic Beauty, and Oji Shrine, one of the Tokyo Ten Shrines, represent traditional Japanese heritage.

Multiple railway lines operated by JR East and Tokyo Metro connect the ward through stations like Akabane and Tabata to central Tokyo and surrounding areas.

The ward maintains international educational facilities, including the Lycée Français International de Tokyo and Tokyo Korean Junior and Senior High School.
