Moriguchishi Station, railway station in Moriguchi, Osaka Prefecture, Japan
Moriguchishi Station is a railway station on the Keihan Main Line in Moriguchi, a city just north of central Osaka. It has two stacked platforms serving four tracks, along with a compact station building that holds ticket gates and a handful of small shops.
The station opened in 1910 under the name Moriguchi Station, serving what was then a small community along the Keihan line. It was renamed Moriguchishi Station in 1971 to avoid confusion with other stations sharing a similar name.
The station has carried its current name since 1971 and works as a daily meeting point for commuters and schoolchildren from the surrounding neighborhoods. Waiting on the platform gives a clear view of the steady pace of everyday life in a Japanese suburb.
Signs inside the station are clear and shown in Japanese and English, making it easy to find your way. Stairs and elevators connect the platforms to street level, and a bus terminal sits directly next to the exit for onward connections.
The platforms sit above street level, which means trains pass over the city without blocking any road crossings below. This setup keeps the streets under the tracks open and usable, something that is not always easy to achieve in a densely built Japanese city.
