Joyo, Agricultural city in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
The city extends across the Yamashiro Basin between Kyoto and Nara, with the Kizu-gawa River flowing through its western section and hills rising to the east.
Formed from the merger of Kutsukawa, Tominosho, and Terada villages in 1951, Jōyō received city designation on May 3, 1972, marking its administrative advancement.
Bunka Parc Joyo functions as a central facility with a library, banquet hall, and folklore center where residents participate in exhibitions and community gatherings.
The city maintains ten elementary schools, five junior high schools, and two high schools, supporting education for its population of 72,869 residents.
