Kindai University, Educational institution in Higashiōsaka, Japan
Kindai University is a private educational institution in Higashiōsaka, Osaka Prefecture, with six campuses distributed across Japan. The main site holds faculties for Law, Economics, Business Administration, and Science and Engineering, while other locations accommodate Medicine and Humanities programs.
The institution began with the 1943 merger of Osaka Technical College and Osaka Science and Engineering University, receiving formal accreditation in 1949. Six decades after this founding, the campus established the first private nuclear reactor facility in Japan.
The library holds around 22,000 manga volumes accessible to readers, reflecting how Japanese everyday culture becomes part of campus life. Students from more than fifty countries study here through exchange programs, giving the grounds a cosmopolitan character you notice in conversations and gatherings.
The site is best reached by train through several stations in the area, with public spaces usually accessible during semester periods. Outdoor grounds and some common areas may be visited outside lecture hours when no closed events are taking place.
The facility became the first private Japanese institution to operate a research reactor for academic purposes in 1960, a rarity among non-government establishments at the time. Over the years, the institution also developed methods for sustainable aquaculture, particularly in breeding certain sea fish.
