Taketoyo

Taketoyo is a town on the Chita Peninsula that extends along Mikawa Bay, with parts within a national park. The layout combines port facilities, manufacturing plants, and residential neighborhoods in a compact setting.

The settlement gained town status in 1891 and opened as a trading port with the United States and Britain eight years later. This commercial opening transformed the local economy and modernized the place.

The town is known for its long-standing production of soy sauce and miso, with traditional workshops still operating today. These crafts remain woven into daily life and local pride.

The town is accessible by train via the Taketoyo Line, which provides connections throughout the prefecture. Local buses and transportation help you navigate between port areas, factory zones, and neighborhoods.

A thermal power station operated by Chubu Electric Power shapes the town's profile and forms its economic foundation. The facility employs hundreds of people and generates most of the local government's revenue.
