Nosegawa

Nosegawa extends across 155 square kilometers within the Kii Mountain Range, featuring Mount Natsumushi at 1349 meters and Mount Arakami at 1260 meters.

The village establishment occurred on April 1, 1889, during Japan's extensive governmental reforms that restructured the national administrative system into prefectures and municipalities.

Local residents maintain agricultural traditions through rice cultivation and farming practices, while celebrating seasonal events that connect the community throughout the year.

Multiple rivers flow through the municipality, including the Iketsu River that joins the Totsukawa River system before reaching the Pacific Ocean.

With 424 residents recorded in 2016, Nosegawa holds the distinction of being the least populated village among all municipalities on Japan's four main islands.
