Ōsaka Uehommachi Station, Railway station in Tennōji-ku, Japan
Ōsaka Uehommachi Station is a railway station in Tennōji-ku, Osaka, with platforms arranged across two levels, including above-ground tracks 3 to 9 and underground tracks 1 and 2. The facility serves as a terminal for the Kintetsu Namba Line and the starting point for the Kintetsu Osaka Line, offering connections toward Kintetsu-Nagoya and Kashikojima.
Operations began on April 30, 1914, when the line first opened to passengers. The current name was introduced in 2009 following the connection with the Hanshin Namba network.
The name refers to the traditional district of Uehonmachi, which once formed the upper city center of Osaka. Travelers today notice the proximity to religious sites such as Ikukunitama Shrine, reachable within a few minutes on foot.
Platforms are divided between above-ground and underground levels, so travelers should allow time for orientation and walking. Signage in Japanese and English helps locate the correct tracks and exits.
The building also houses the headquarters of Kintetsu Corporation, placing administration and passenger traffic under one roof. Staff and travelers thus share the entrance and surroundings, which is rare for Japanese railway stations.
