Saitama Super Arena, Indoor arena in Chuo-ku, Japan
Saitama Super Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Chuo-ku, Japan, that uses a moving block system for seating to adjust capacity between 19,000 and 37,000 spectators depending on the event. The facility consists of multiple levels with different spectator sections that can be reconfigured through a technical construction system.
Construction began in March 1997 as part of the urban development of Saitama New Urban Center and was completed in September 2000. The project received a Good Design Award for its architectural design.
The venue carries a name that reflects its function as a large-scale event space, with Super Arena emphasizing scale and flexibility. Visitors today experience a setting shaped by concerts from Japanese pop groups and international sports tournaments, where fans dressed in team colors fill the stands.
The hall is located in Saitama New Urban Center and is easily accessible by public transport. Visitors find facilities on site for sports events, concerts, and other large-scale gatherings with different configurations.
A mechanized system moves an entire seating section in about 20 minutes to transform the space between stadium and theater configurations. This technical adaptation allows different event formats without lengthy setup times.
