Taiei Bridge, Cross-road bridge and railway overpass in Ōmiya-ku, Japan
Taiei Bridge is a road bridge in Ōmiya-ku that carries traffic over multiple railway lines. It connects the neighborhoods of Miyachō and Sakuragichō, allowing vehicles and pedestrians to cross the Tōhoku Main Line.
The bridge was constructed beginning in July 1959 and officially inaugurated on August 30, 1961. This project responded to the growing need for traffic connections in the area.
The bridge carries the Saitama Prefectural Road Route 2 through Ōmiya-ku, integrating the infrastructure needs of local residents with railway operations below.
Both vehicles and pedestrians can use the bridge, with dedicated lanes for cars and sidewalks for foot traffic. During rainy weather the surfaces can become slippery, so extra caution is recommended.
The bridge was specifically designed to accommodate operations of the Omiya General Rolling Stock Center below it. This engineering consideration makes it part of a larger rail facility system.
