Yokohama Bay Bridge

The Yokohama Bay Bridge spans 860 meters across the bay with two steel towers reaching 172 meters in height and a main span of 460 meters.

The bridge opened in September 1989 as part of the Six Major Projects of Yokohama, connecting Daikoku Pier with Honmoku Pier to improve regional transportation.

The bridge received the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Tanaka Prize and earned recognition as one of the 100 significant bridges in Japan.

The upper deck carries Metropolitan Expressway traffic at 80 kilometers per hour, while the lower deck accommodates National Route 357 for local transportation needs.

An observation walkway called Yokohama Sky Walk beneath the bridge structure provides visitors with close views of large vessels passing underneath.
