Toyoyama, Municipal town in Nishikasugai District, Japan
Toyoyama is a small town in Nishikasugai District in central Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The area is shaped significantly by its proximity to Nagoya Airport, which occupies a substantial portion of the town.
The town formed in 1906 through the merger of Aoyama and Toyoba villages. It later received official town status in 1972.
A third of Toyoyama's territory accommodates Nagoya Airport, making it a center for regional aerospace activities and industrial development.
The town is compact and easy to explore on foot, though its airport location means some areas are restricted from public access. Visitors should note that the airport zone is separated from the residential areas.
Despite its small size, Toyoyama hosts an active wholesale market for fruits and seafood that draws buyers from across the region. This market is a surprisingly active trading hub for such a tiny location.
