Naka-ku, Administrative ward in central Nagoya, Japan
Naka-ku spans 9.38 square kilometers with a population density of 9,693 persons per square kilometer and contains both residential and commercial zones.
Established on April 1, 1908, as one of the original four wards of Nagoya, Naka-ku underwent reconstruction after World War II with streets redesigned in a grid pattern.
The Osu district features covered shopping streets with numerous restaurants, stores, and the Osu Kannon Buddhist temple that organizes regular flea markets.
The ward contains Nagoya Castle, Nagoya TV Tower, City Science Museum, City Art Museum, and multiple subway lines connecting different parts of the city.
The Sakae district includes a 100-meter wide road with small parks and performance spaces situated between two four-lane roads serving the city center.
