Annaka, Transportation hub in Gunma Prefecture, Japan

Annaka stretches across 276 square kilometers at the northernmost point of the Kanto Plain, featuring mountains, rivers, and artificial lakes throughout its territory.

The city developed from two post stations on the Nakasendo route during the Edo Period, connecting Edo to Kyoto through strategic mountain passages.

The Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park displays historical locomotives and railway equipment, representing the technological evolution of Japanese transportation systems.

Visitors can access Annaka via the Hokuriku Shinkansen at Annaka-Haruna station or through the Joshin-etsu Expressway connecting to major metropolitan areas.

The Toge no Kamameshi, a traditional hotpot dish from Oginoya shop near Yokokawa Station, remains a sought-after regional specialty since the early railway era.
