Soo district, Administrative district in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan
The Soo District spans across 100.82 square kilometers in Kagoshima Prefecture, maintaining a population density of 146 persons per square kilometer.
Established on April 1, 1897, the Soo District emerged from the merger of Nishisoo with Aira District and Higashisoo with Minamimorokata District.
The district, written as 曽於郡 in Japanese, reflects the traditional administrative structure that connects prefectural governance with local municipalities in Japan.
The district contains the town of Osaki and provides essential administrative services for residents within its designated geographical boundaries.
Before its current formation, the district underwent a notable split in 1878 into Higashisoo and Nishisoo Districts, later reunifying into its present form.
