Aqua Park Shinagawa, Public aquarium in Takanawa, Japan.
Aqua Park Shinagawa is a marine aquarium inside the Shinagawa Prince Hotel high-rise complex in Takanawa, spreading across two floors. The building contains several themed zones with tanks, tunnels and projection walls that combine technology with animal observation.
The aquarium opened in 2005 under the name Epson Shinagawa Aqua Stadium and received a new interior design following extensive renovations starting in 2015. The facility then changed sponsors multiple times and has carried its current name since 2017.
Visitors know the facility by several names, as it has been rebranded multiple times since opening and now carries the name of an electronics manufacturer. The dolphinarium hosts daily shows where trainers work with the animals and spectators sit on benches surrounding the pool.
The aquarium sits two minutes on foot from Shinagawa Station and offers time slots for feeding rays at the touch pools. Dolphin performances take place in a 1,350-seat auditorium, and queues often form at the entrance during weekends.
The Wonder Tube is a 20-meter domed glass tunnel that displays the only public presentation of dwarf sawfish worldwide. The aquarium houses 15 different ray species in total, most of which swim in shallow side tanks.
