Shinagawa East One Tower, Skyscraper in Minato, Japan.
Shinagawa East One Tower is a 32-floor office and commercial building in the Minato district of Tokyo, rising to about 490 feet (150 meters). The lower floors hold restaurants, shops, banks, and medical clinics, while the upper floors are occupied by office spaces and a luxury hotel.
The tower was completed in March 2003, during a period when large office projects were reshaping the area around Shinagawa Station. That wave of construction turned the neighborhood into one of Tokyo's main business hubs over the following years.
The lower floors display seasonal decorations throughout the year, from autumn arrangements to winter installations that reflect Japanese customs. Visitors walking through the entrance and lobby areas can notice how these changing displays shape the daily feel of a modern office building.
The tower is within easy walking distance of Shinagawa Station, which is served by several train and shinkansen lines. The restaurants and shops on the lower floors are open to anyone without prior booking, making it straightforward to stop in during the day.
The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo hotel occupies several of the upper floors and welcomes outside visitors to its restaurants, which is not the case in most Tokyo office towers where upper floors stay closed to the public. This means anyone can ride the elevator up for a meal with a view over the city without being a hotel guest.
