Sony City, Corporate headquarters in Minato district, Tokyo, Japan
Sony City is a 20-story office tower in Minato with a total floor area of 162,887 square meters (1,753,000 sq ft) and a glass-covered rectangular design. The building features a distinctive diagonal lattice framework that supports its modern structure.
The building opened in 2006 on the site of the former Shibaura Technology Center. It brought together Sony Group offices that had been spread across different parts of the city into a single location.
The building serves as a visible symbol of Sony's role in Tokyo's tech and entertainment industries, anchoring the neighborhood as a hub for creative and corporate activity. Its glass exterior and modern design have become familiar landmarks that define this part of the city.
The tower connects directly to Shinagawa Station through the Konan exit, making it easy to reach by train. Inside, the building has cafeterias and refreshment areas spread throughout multiple floors for visitors and workers.
The building uses wastewater heat from the nearby Shibaura Water Reclamation Center to power its climate systems. This clever approach reduces carbon emissions by 48 percent compared to typical office buildings.
