Minato Bridge, Double-deck truss bridge in Osaka Bay, Japan

The Minato Bridge stretches 983 meters across Osaka Bay, featuring two traffic levels with a central span of 510 meters and a red steel construction.

The construction of Minato Bridge in 1974 marked the beginning of long-span bridge development for the Hanshin Expressway network in Osaka Prefecture.

The bridge received the Tanaka Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers in 1974 and again in 2007 for its engineering accomplishments.

The structure maintains a clearance of 51 meters above sea level to allow 40,000-ton container ships to pass underneath through the main shipping channel.

The bridge incorporates sliding seismic isolation bearings that allow the road deck to move during earthquakes, preventing damage to the truss components.
