Shuzenji Niji no Sato, Theme park in Izu, Japan
Shuzenji Niji no Sato is a large park on the Izu Peninsula with two recreated village sections in English and Canadian styles. A railway approximately 2.4 kilometers long connects the two areas together.
The park grew from Shuzenji Park, which was established in 1924 with maple and pine trees, before it was transformed into its current form in 1990. The redesign brought new themed sections and the railway connection.
The park features a Japanese garden with ponds and wooden bridges where seasonal flowers like wisteria, iris, rhododendron, and hydrangea bloom throughout the year. These plants shape the look and feel of the space as you walk through it.
The park is accessible by paths and stairs, with the railway offering a convenient way to travel between the higher elevations. Wearing comfortable shoes is wise since there are many walking routes and uneven terrain.
The Canadian section was modeled after Nelson in British Columbia and features water play areas along with imported Canadian products for sale. This section recreates details from that specific city rather than a generic North American replica.
